Audacia Paula Rules

This topic will list all official Audacia Paula forum rules. Proper social etiquette, roleplay-related rules, and more can be found here. Please, if you notice someone breaking a listed rule, then notify a moderator or admin so the issue may be properly and thoroughly investigated. To make understanding the rules easier, we have decided to list the three categories of rules that will be in this thread; please note that each category will have its own post in this topic.

  • General Forum Rules
  • General Etiquette Rules
  • General RPG Rules

General Rules and Regulations Empty Re: General Rules and Regulations

General Forum Rules

  • 1. No illegal Multi-accounting. There are rules set into place for how many characters one may lawfully control (max. 2 unless otherwise authorized), and those rules should be regarded and obeyed just like any other. Our Mods and Admins are all very capable of detecting when someone is performing unauthorized mutli-accounting, so please, don't even try. If one does not go through the proper forms and channels to gain an authorized second account, but still makes a second account, it will be interpreted as illegal multi-accounting, which will result in a harsh punishment such as getting banned for a certain amount of time and in some cases a decrease in rank for your "primary" account.

  • 2. Remain on topic, and always make sure that you are posting in the proper place. Off-topic posts are annoying, and create more work for the administration and moderators. Each forum has a convenient brief yet descriptive summary about what should be posted there, below its name. It is better to read a description for a few seconds than post something in the wrong area. Offending this rule may result in the removal of the topic or the topic being ignored. If you post an off-topic post on accident, please PM a moderator or admin requesting the topic be moved.

  • 3. No double posting. You will be bitch-slapped by Kan-Kun, Lord of all things miniskirt if you violate this rule. Double posting (unless authorized) is equivilant to spam, which can make topics feel messy and cluttered. This can result in more work for mods and admins who have to merge or modify double-posts. If you double-post accidentally, then please notify a mod or an admin requesting them to take action.

  • 3a. On this note, "bumping" an out of character topic is allowed, but do so sparingly. Excessive bumping may also be considered spamming, which is frowned upon greatly by your kind forum overlords. One is only authorized to bump once in a topic, once per day. If you make an unauthorized bump more than once per day, mods and admins are allowed to ignore your post.

  • 4. This one is important: if you see an error (a broken rule, a grand typo, a roleplaying mistake) in someone else's topic, then DO NOT bring attention to it in the most ass way possible, i.e. posting an OOC segment in your IC posts, or even pointing things out in the out of character sections. Instead, notify the member via PM, or notify a mod/admin via PM. If you feel the offense is so great that it merits public condemnation and drama, then post it in the "Ideas/Concerns/Questions" category.

  • 5. Don't be a d-bag.

  • 5a. On this note, no flaming is allowed outside of The Flame Pit, conveniently located in the Lounge.

  • 5b. Also on this note, do not try and break or circumvent the system. We (the admins) are currently working on an effective yet fair and balanced battle system, and value input from members who believe a policy may be unfair. It is almost exactly like the "Ideas/Concerns/Questions" area exists for posts to point such things out.

  • 6. The only canon characters (characters from the Negima manga) allowed are "plot characters", most of which are played by myself, my fellow admins, the mods, or an appointed member. We don't need fifty Negi's running around learning Magia Erebea...one is sufficient.

  • 6a. On this note, do realize that canon characters, plot characters, and faculty are understandably far more powerful than rookies. How much fun would your favorite shounen/fightan' manga be if the hero (you) didn't have to struggle and work hard and develop. No attempts at instant god-mode characters beyond appointed plot characters and authorized exceptions will be allowed. Stop it.

  • 7. Age and Time are both important factors here that help make a roleplay more realistic and orderly. Neither of these elements will be ignored. Time here is not set in stone, but nor is it liquid; time here is "fluid"; you can only be in one place/topic at once as any one character, with the exception of the "Training Area" in Bulletin Board. The age of your character usually determines how skilled you are, within reason: it makes no sense to have a fifteen-year-old prodigy (unless authorized) nor an elderly mage who can be beaten by a novice.

  • 7a. On the note of time, it takes thirty minutes (both in game and in real life) to post between topics in any one IC forum. This means that you can't be eating in the cafeteria, then -without posting yourself leaving the cafeteria- suddenly appear in a courtyard halfway across campus. It is encouraged that you make even longer than thirty minutes elapse in character before posting in a different forum in the same topic, though we only require thirty ooc/real time minutes elapse. Mahora Academy is massive, and traversing the entire campus like lightning is not uber realistic, especially if one is not running.

  • 7b. Also, to move from actual forum to another forum (say from Mahora Academy to Library Island) one real-time hour must elapse before you can post your character changing locations.

  • 7c. This should go without saying, but unless you post a character entering or leaving a topic, with few exceptions, they cannot change location.

  • 8. Please read and look for rules as necessary, and follow the posted templates before requesting or posting anything. It is advised that -after reading all rules and regulations- a member look first at the "Character Template". If one carefully follows this template, then one should have no problems creating an acceptable character. If you are ever unsure about something, consult a mod or an admin, that is what we are staff for, people.

  • 8a. Partially on topic, the Graphical Admins have no authorization to edit anything aside from graphics, sigs, banners, buttons, smilies, etc. This means that they cannot make changes for you, and they may -or may not- be capable of answering questions you have.

  • 9. Audacia Paula does allow one to advertise their sites and forums here, but we have a specific section, "Ad Land" under the Bulletin Board for doing so. Advertising anywhere else may be a punishable offense.

General Etiquette Rules

  • 1. Respect one another. Here, respect is given, not earned. We have a policy of mutual respect; if x respects y, then y respects x. If you really can't get along with someone, then don't interact with them. We're all here to have fun, so douchebags, bitchtits, and others of this variety can kindly GTFO. The "Flame Pit" exists for a reason, people.

  • 2. Respect all decisions made by moderators and administrators. Sometimes, the reasons the leadership does what they do may not be very clear. If you do not understand their side of things, please simply send a PM to him/her, asking what is their reason for the decision. Have in mind that the PM must not feature bad language, insults or any show of disrespect. If it does, the punishment may sometimes result in a temporary or even a permanent ban. This is in accordance with rule 1.

  • 3. Do not bug/irritate/troll the mods or admins all the time or to the point where they may become frustrated. If you have warned the moderator or administrator about something, don't worry: they will fix it or give their opinion on it in due time. Remember that mods and admins have a life of their own and may have more important business currently. All three of the admins on this site are American University students.

  • 4. Audacia Paula allows a limited amount of swearing both in-game and out of game, although this forum highly recommends you not to swear, especially if someone asks you not to or you doing so makes one feel uncomfortable. This forum highly believes in freedom of speech and the freedom to express oneself, but these forms of freedom also has a limit and offending someone (outside of the "Flame Pit"/Debate areas) is over this limit.

  • 5. Leave what goes on outside of this forum, outside of this forum. It is more than likely than not that some members know other members outside of the forum in real life. If something (drama, etc) happens outside the forum leave it outside; do not bring up things up that are inappropriate that have happened, in conversation or any medium on this forum.

  • 6. Do not post in any character/techniques/clan/equipment/etc. topics that aren't yours unless you are a mod of the topics or an admin. The mods or admins will tell the member everything they need to know and to correct. If you do post, it will be considered spam.

  • 7. Do NOT show up in an IC topic to make an "off topic" post. PM the member(s) if you have to tell the member(s) anything about the topic they are in. This also helps us avoid spam and avoids arguments within a topic. If you don't want to PM someone and insist on being a public white-knight doucheface, go ahead and post in the "Ideas/Concerns/Questions" area.

RPG Rules

  • 1. The first and most obvious rule should be "NO GOD MODING". God Moding is defined in this spoiler.
    Spoiler:
The thing is, only plot characters and authorized characters should be very powerful in the beginning; the whole point of this forum and Audacia Paula is for roleplayers to interact with one another, have fun, and develop their characters.

  • 2. All IC posts must be a minimum of 90 words. This is the very minimum amount of words a post may contain.

  • 3. As stated earlier, no one character can be in two places at once, unless authorized to do so by the powers that be.

  • 4. Make sure the topic you are entering makes sense for you to actually enter, even if you are allowed in the topic. For example, if you are from the Kansai Magic Association, why would you be in an RPG topic at Mahora Academy, in the Kanto Region? Unless you are traveling or you are attacking or performing a mission of some sort, that wouldn't make much sense at all.

  • 5. NEVER under any circumstance mix any OCC information with any form of IC information! This is extremely serious and major penalties will be applied to whoever does mix OOC information with IC information. Avoid as much as possible to make OCC arrangements of important topics and never act as if your character knows the same as you do OOC wise. (OOC= out of character/ IC= In character)

  • 6. Character Changes: Most people like any others want to have a new character due to an epiphany or from just being bored with their own character. To make a new character simply repeat the process in which you created your first in Character Creation Zone. Note that characters created in this fashion will be one "rank" lower than your current character. "Apprentice" is the lowest rank for registered members.

  • 7. Please ensure your posts are readable and coherent before posting them. Use correct words instead of abbreviations (except for game terms in OOC topics), and make sure your sentences are structured well. Use word processors to help you and if you're really old school, a dictionary. OOC typos are fine, however; while role-playing good grammar is crucial and can make a good role player a great one. This is an international forum so not everyone has English as their major language, but an effort has to be made, people.

  • 8. Better role players will gain the benefit of doubt against terrible or worse role players. The better you RP the more chances you will have the Admins favor you in a particular situation in battle. If a person responds with a simplistic and non-detailed post to a carefully structured and defined post, expect the Admins' interference and expect the simplistic person to have some unpleasant penalties and the better RPer to get off any hooks scott free.

  • 9. A person may steal equipment, items, weapons, etc. However, the user must be able to wield and use the weapon. For example, a person with lvl 1 weaponry can use an ordinary katana, but they could not hope to wield a shinigami's zanpakuto or a zanbatou. However, this person may steal and use any katana that require higher weapon knowledge than they have. Also a person can only receive weapons that require higher knowledge than they have only by stealing them, not by someone giving them away or by bounties.

  • 10. Everyone has the right to 48 OOC/real-time hours to reply to a post from the last post made in the topic. If they exceed this 48 time period, another person may ask for an admin to execute a mod-kill. If the admin believes they refused to post as their character would have died in the fight, the admin may make the mod kill actually result in the death of the delaying poster's character.

  • 11. The Admins will always have the final say on any situation RP wise, even over any Moderator. If an admin finds anything particularly unfair in a battle, regardless of the previous rulings of a battle mod, an Admin may issue a different result to a situation and their ruling will be the final one, unless another Admin steps in. Remember, the Admins made these rules, not the other way around.

  • 11a. At the same time, we do have a section on our forum where people may post ideas and concerns of any kind; this of course includes suggesting new rules or policy changes. Suggestions will be briefly taken to an invisible "Admin Area", where the rules or policies in question will be scrutinized and discussed amongst the admins. After a two-thirds majority has been reached, the modified statues will be posted publicly for public opinion, review, and analysis.
